Copeland, Linda & Curran — Sweet Sawdust

Cadiz, KY

This husband and wife team makes traditional games and toys from native American hardwoods purchased from local lumber mills, with rubber inserts made from recycled inner tubes and metal bars that are recycled political signs. Curran learned the trade from his grandfather and father, but also holds a degree in Industrial Arts.

Curran describes his toy designs as being a mix of his interpretations of the traditional family games and toys brought over by European ancestors and games influenced by Native Americans as described by family members, friends, and research.

Sweet Sawdust toys can also be found in many Kentucky State Park gift shops.
