Ann W. Olson is a writer and photographer who lives in a hilly region of Northeast Kentucky covered with small tobacco farms and forests.
Ann holds a B.A. degree from Smith College, Northampton, MA, and K-12 teacher certification from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She taught French at Morehead State University, worked as a bookstore clerk, worked with publicity and fundraising for Morehead’s local public radio station. She has also done classroom evaluation work for the Reading First Program.
Her photographs illustrate the children’s book Counting on the Woods by George Ella Lyon. These photos were taken near where she lives on Mauk Ridge in Elliot County. Her photos of Kentucky can often be found in community facilities, and on her note cards.
