Bill Roberts was born in Somerset, KY and has been a lifelong Kentucky resident. While a student at Berea College, he was assigned to work in the weaving department to fulfill his student labor requirement.
Bill completed his BA in art and sociology at Berea College and in 1973 became weaving supervisor at the College. He credits his labor experience with his interest in weaving. Bill weaves yarn, cotton, and rags on a hand loom, creating works that are both useful and beautiful.
Bill is a juried member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen and the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program.
