Nancy Hopkins holds a BFA from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, with a major in graphic design and illustration. After working as a graphic designer and freelance illustrator for twelve years with various companies and publications, she left in 2000 to pursue a career as a fine artist.
Speaking of her work, Nancy says, “Using low-relief earthenware, I create intimately proportioned one-of-a-kind works I embellish with acrylic paint, group and found objects.” Nancy also has a line of home décor pieces, the most popular of which are her colorful and functional Madge Dishes©, “cute little dishes with BIG possibilities!”
Nancy’s influences include a love of animals, gardening, contemporary illustration and “an appreciation for the absurdities of everyday life.”
Nancy also accepts commissions for pet portraiture and custom rile work such as fireplace surrounds and kitchen backsplashes.
Works by Nancy Hopkins can be found at the Levee Gallery, Newport, KY, and the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
