Dr. Jackie Burnside, Associate Professor of Sociology at Berea College, is a native of Alabama and an alumna of Berea College (1974). Dr. Burnside’s Ph.D. dissertation was an organizational analysis of Berea College as an interracial educational institution during the 19th Century.

In addition to teaching introductory sociology, social problems, advanced courses in race, ethnic relations and formal organizations. Dr. Burnside was an Army sergeant whose tour of duty included living in the Panama Canal Zone (1976-79).
