Building Design
The Center's 20,000 square foot facility was designed by Charles Jolly and
Carol Myers of Myers Jolly Architects, Lexington, KY. Though it appears to be a
cluster of individual buildings, it is in fact one continuous structure
containing areas dedicated to travel information display, sales of artisan
works, and dining.
The architects have described the building as having the look of an older barn
that has been updated. Using traditional materials like limestone, slate, and
copper, they have created a very unique building that is in keeping with the
beautiful traditional structures in Berea and other areas of Kentucky, but at
the same time is unique. In its design and construction, the Center exemplifies
the high-quality Kentucky artisanry it was created to display.
The Center's grounds include over 10 acres, with outer areas left with their
original growth, transitioning to the Center's building site which will be
landscaped with native plants. The Center's parking lot will accommodate up to
140 cars as well as tour buses
