Florida born and raised, Kentucky artist Bruce Robert Frank has been actively involved in the art community since the mid-Seventies, creating widely-exhibited innovative photographic artwork along the way. Frank has chosen flowers as a theme in his photography and states that the colors and forms of tropical flowers in particular intrigue him. His current work is an exploration of botanical diversity, incorporating painting and drawing techniques in digital form. By using a series of computer techniques to transport the original photograph into the realms of painting and drawing, Frank is able to accentuate the essence of the subject’s nature.

Bruce states, ”Capturing an image through the camera lens using conventional slide film, scanning it into a computer, and manipulating the resulting “digital pigment” by hand with a graphics tablet, is a creative process that allows me to transport the original photograph into the realms of painting and drawing, accentuating the essence of the botanical form.”

Work by Bruce Robert Frank can be found at Kentucky Museum of Art & Craft, Louisville, KY; Completely Kentucky, Frankfort; John James Audobon Museum, Henderson; and the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea.
