Janet, who lives on a farm, has been working in wood since childhood. She received a Bachelor of Industrial Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Her years of teaching, training, showing, and judging horses have given her a thorough knowledge of the structure of the horse.
Janet cuts the designs for her horses, dogs, cats, and birds from birch plywood using a scroll saw and hand carves the shapes and details. Her pieces are then hand painted and finished with a satin varnish.
Janet’s work can be found at Gallery Janjobe, Louisville; Artique, Lexington; the Corner Store, La Grange, KY; and the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
