From carpenter to contractor to custom cabinets to furniture and boxes, Gary Cooper has been working with wood for over 40 years. His one man shop, Cooper’s Wood Studio, is located in beautiful Kettle, Kentucky, which is in Cumberland County.
Gary specializes in band sawn boxes to hold your special keepsakes or to just empty the contents of your pockets at the end of the day. Gary also makes custom pieces including dining room tables, lamps, chests, bookcases, and musical instrument display cases. Gary prefers working with local hardwoods of walnut, cherry, sassafras, hackberry, sycamore, maple, cedar and oak which he dries in his own kiln. Gary welcomes visitors to his shop by appointment.
Gary is a juried member of the Sheltowee Guild of Artists and Craftsmen, the Kentucky Art Council’s Kentucky Craft Marketing Program, the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen, and the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists. He is a member of the American Craft Council and the Kentucky Museum of Art & Craft.
