A native of Kentucky, Doug Haley grew up on a dairy farm and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in 1977. Basically self taught, Doug began his woodworking career by operating a sawmill business for three years. He opened his own custom furniture shop in Old Town, Berea in 1986.
Doug, and his younger brother Wally who assists him in the business, have become well known as master craftsmen who build unique pieces from one end of the design spectrum to the other. Their specialty is dining room tables and chairs, and they are well known for their unusual selection of woods and their impeccable lacquer finishes.
Over the years Doug has received national recognition and awards for his designs and craftsmanship. His woodworking studio is also known for its unique way of measuring and custom fitting chairs and rockers to individual customers.
Doug Haley’s work can also be found at his woodworking studio, Doug Haley Fine Woodworking, in Old Town, Berea, KY, and the Berea Welcome Center, Berea, KY.
