Patricia is a self-taught artist and has also been a full-time artist since 1983, producing a variety of original wildlife, flower and animal paintings on ornaments and jewelry made from wood.
Her current work grew out of her watercolor and oil painting, but was influenced by photography as well, which she learned from her father who worked in the photographic arts for 50 years..
Much of Patricia’s inspiration also comes from previous work as a wildlife rehabilitator for 15 years, which involved taking care of wounded or abandoned animals and nursing them back to health to be released again into the wild. From these intimate, healing experiences, Patricia sought to capture her feelings for the spirit of each animal in her art. She has developed 175 different animals including 125 breeds of both dogs and cats.
Her current body of work focuses on the love and connection between people and their animals. Patricia herself has two dogs, “Stella,” a black lab and “Bryce,” a golden retriever, both certified therapy dogs. With them she volunteers weekly in different hospital settings.
Patricia’s works can also be found in the Promenade Gallery, Berea, KY; Truly Bluegrass,Versailles, KY and the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
