Kappeler, Jana S. — Jana Kappeler Studio
acrylic painting, mixed media
Growing up in rural Kentucky, Jana Kappeler learned early from her family and community the importance of handcrafting and taking pride in your work. For 20 years she created stained and fused glasswork which she sold in galleries and shops throughout the country.
In 2010 Jana turned her attention to acrylics and mixed media. Studying with Patti Brady at Golden Artist Colors, she gained an understanding of acrylic paints and mediums and their possibilities. It was at this point that she began to develop her abstract expressionist works.
Jana loves color and uses it freely in her work. She feels life is meant to be vibrant and light filled. Every time she paints she learns.
Jana recently moved back to the rural community that shaped her. With her family she built a home on the land her family has owned for five generations. Inspiration comes from the nature around her as well as from her international travels. Jana is grateful to be able to express her creativity in this way.
Jana’s work can be found at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
