Valerie Timmons, an artist and university instructor, started Earth Goddess Candles (EGC) as a means of providing subtle, nature-inspired fragrances for the home. She started with herbal scents in mind as she believes they provide the most refreshing reference to nature.
Several months after founding EGC, a friend suggested a line inspired by their native Kentucky, and the Kentucky product line was born. These candles feature fragrances that evoke Kentucky seasons, experiences, and places. Other fragrance lines followed.
Soy wax, made from soybeans grown in the Midwest, is used for all EGC products, since it is a renewable resource, is biodegradable, and provides a longer and cleaner burn than traditional paraffin waxes, which are derived from petroleum.
Works by Earth Goddess Candles can be found at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
