Rob Weingartner is not a native of Kentucky, but as a child he and his parents visited their cottage in Kentucky for week-end fishing trips and summer vacations.
After college, Rob worked for several years as art director and vice president of an advertising company in Chicago. Deciding he would prefer a less hectic life style, Rob purchased property in Mason County and he and his wife Laura moved there to open the Purple Turtle Gallery, which featured Native American art and pottery and Mexican folk art.
During this time, Rob learned the arts of silversmithing and stone cutting. For a number of years, Rob and Laura traveled, selling Rob’s one of a kind jewelry pieces at art shows. Recently they returned to Mason County and re-opened the Purple Turtle.
When Rob makes each of his unique pieces of jewelry, he is confident that the right person will find it. He believes it will be found by the person it was made for
Rob’s work can be found at Purple Turtle Gallery in Old Washington, KY, as well as at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea.
