Paul Sympson has always been an avid dreamer. Creating, dreaming requires tapping into our collective unconscious. His experiences with people, plants, animals, nature, and the self are combined in his forms, as in his dreams. His interest in stone carving came about partially from his fear of the medium. He likes a challenge. It is a part of his nature to take a chunk of solid rock and make it appear airy, to take a complex form and make it appear simple, and most of all to take something which appears lifeless and bring out the life hidden within.
Paul Symspon has a B.F.A. from Western Kentucky University, M.A. Art Therapy University of Louisville, and he is also a certified structural integrationist.
His work is included in many public and private collections.
Paul Sympson’s work can be found at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea KY.
