Watching a blacksmith demonstrating at a fair in Vermont, .Jim Jones became intrigued with the art. He had a sense that this was what he was meant to do and soon after was launched on a blacksmithing career.
Jim began by acquiring all the tools of the blacksmithing trade, and searching for anything he could find to read on the subject. Being primarily self-taught, Jim first started making items for his family and friends.
It was not long before Jim’s business grew to such an extent that in 2004, he left his job at the University of Kentucky to begin working as a full-time blacksmith.
Jim comments, “I haven’t had a chance to look back – and I have never been happier! Forge on!”
Works by blacksmith Jim Jones can be found at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
