Born and raised in New Orleans, Laura Hallock has been working with glass since 1983 when she took her first stained glass class. As a former draftsperson and avid crafter, working with stained glass just seemed a natural fit.
Moving to Lexington in 1987 Hallock began working in glass and in 1990 was juried into the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program. In 1995 she opened her own retail store and has been teaching the joy of glass to students ever since. She offers classes on the techniques of stained glass, glass fusing and glass bead making.
Hallock is attracted to the variety of colors and textures that glass offers. She has studied flameworking glass with Cindy Jenkins, Leah Fairbanks and others to continue building her skills. She uses effetre glass rods (also known as Italian Moretti rods) in the creation of her glass beads.
Works by aura Hallock can be found at Hallock Stained Glass, Lexington, KY; and at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
