Originally from Covington, KY, Janet Serrenho graduated from the University of Kentucky and began quilting ten years ago. Janet has been influenced by her grandmother who made quilts on a treadle sewing machine and by her aunt who worked in a sewing factory and also quilted.
Janet’s inspiration for her quilted items often comes from the fabric patterns that she finds. She often prefers to make full sized art quilts but creates a number of smaller quilted items such as pot holders. Janet is a juried member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists & Craftsmen.
Janet’s African themed quilts have been shown at Berea college, Kentucky State University in Frankfort, the Lexington Library, and at many quilts and art shows.
Janet’s work can also be found at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
