After raising four sons and teaching middle school in rural Eastern Kentucky, Cathie Brown now finds herself retired and living in Northern Madison County. She has the time and space to use her energy and creativity in new ways.
Having enjoyed the character and texture of felted purses, she knitted and felted one herself and found the process fascinating. She enjoys the challenge of imagining what a floppy knitted bag will look like after it’s felted. She also had great fun searching through her boxes of fabric, buttons, and jewelry to fine just the right closures and embellishments.
Her bags are loose hand knitted with 100% wool yarn. She crochets the seams and sometimes trim, and then felts it using her washing machine, very hot water and high agitation. She then adds details to this smaller and dense bag. Cathie’s reward is a happy customer!
