After earning a B.A. degree in Sociology from Western University in Bowling Green, KY, Mitchell Rickman began taking clay courses from Bill Weaver at Western Kentucky University, where he discovered his love of clay. From 1986-1990, Mitchell worked at the Overcast Pottery in Tennessee, and then founded his own business, Rickman Pottery, in Bowling Green, KY.


Mitchell’s work is primarily wheel-thrown stoneware. He pays close attention to the needs of today’s kitchen. His colorful glazes that are dishwasher, oven and microwave safe are designed for daily life.


Mitchell’s work can also be found in Completely Kentucky, Frankfort, KY; True Kentucky, Glendale, KY; Kentucky Haus, Newport, KY; and in many Kentucky State Park gift shops.
