A native New Englander, Janet Tobler moved to Oslo, Norway, in her early twenties to learn more about pottery, a craft that she had begun to love while in high school. She worked as an apprentice to two Norwegian potters – Karin Eie and Bente Honne who kept her busy and taught her about clay.
Once back in the USA, Janet started her own studio. Janet works with terra cotta clay, and often her work is embellished with 22k gold applied in an enameling process.
Janet lives in Covington, KY with her daughter, their dog, and two rabbits.
Janet’s work can be found at Completely Kentucky in Frankfort, KY; at True Kentucky in Glendale, KY, at Top Drawer Gallery and the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea in Berea, KY.
