Bob and Susie Hutchison present a unique variety of music featuring the Appalachian Mountain Dulcimer, Kentucky's Official State Instrument, at a variety of venues. Both came to the dulcimer from musical backgrounds. Bob saw his first dulcimer at a craft festival and Susie was introduced to it by her aunt, Rebecca Caudill.
In their presentations, traditional mountain, Irish and Scottish tunes mingle with jazz and classical pieces to reveal a versatility that few expect in this instrument. Bob and Susie enjoy presenting programs that introduce people to traditional music and instruments. The Hutchisons teach how the instrument evolved, spread and became important to the people.
The duo has delighted audiences of all backgrounds at festivals, churches, historic homes, museums and private venues in many states.
Recordings by Bob & Susie Hutchison can be found at Joseph-Beth Booksellers, Lexington, KY; and the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Berea, KY.
